Grammar Pattern

〜とともに — Three uses:

1. Accompaniment: “together with” (Noun + とともに)
2. Simultaneous change: “as X happens, Y also changes”
3. Parallel actions: two things happening at the same time

Structure: Noun / Verb (dictionary) + とともに + result

Example Sentences

1. 家族かぞくとともに旅行りょこうした。 I traveled together with my family. (accompaniment) 　（繁中：和家人一起去旅行了。（同行））

2. 年としをとるとともに、体力たいりょくが落おちてきた。 As I got older, my physical strength declined. (simultaneous change) 　（繁中：隨著年齡增長，體力逐漸下降了。（同時變化））

3. 技術ぎじゅつの発展はってんとともに、生活せいかつも便利べんりになった。 As technology developed, life also became more convenient. (parallel change) 　（繁中：隨著科技的發展，生活也變得更方便了。（同步變化））

Reading

経済けいざいの成長せいちょうとともに、人々ひとびとの生活せいかつ水準も上あがった。しかし、それとともに環境問題かんきょうもんだいも深刻しんこくになってきた。
