〜に際して / 〜に際し — “On the occasion of / at the time of”

A very formal expression used for important or ceremonial occasions. Used to mark a specific timing for an action or advice.

Structure: Noun / Verb (dictionary) + に際して + action/advice

💡 Similar to 〜にあたって but に際して tends to be used for more formal, ceremony-like situations.

Example Sentences

1. 卒業そつぎょうに際さいして、校長先生こうちょうせんせいがスピーチをされた。 On the occasion of graduation, the principal gave a speech. 　（繁中：在畢業典禮之際，校長致辭。）

2. 新あたらしい事業じぎょうを始はじめるに際さいして、十分じゅうぶんな計画けいかくが必要ひつようです。 When starting a new business, thorough planning is necessary. 　（繁中：在開展新事業之際，需要充分的計畫。）

3. 入社にゅうしゃに際さいし、注意事項ちゅういじこうをよくお読よみください。 Upon joining the company, please read the notes carefully. 　（繁中：在入職之際，請仔細閱讀注意事項。）
