To Be (быть) & Present Tense

The Verb “To Be” — быть

In Russian, the present tense of быть (to be) is usually omitted!

💡 A dash is sometimes used in writing: Москва — столица России (maSKVA — sta-LEE-tsa raSSEEya). (Moscow is the capital of Russia.)
